Rubbernecker Stamps - Challenge #28: Make It Shake

Hello and happy Tuesday to all my lovely readers! Today begins a new bi-weekly challenge over at Rubbernecker StampsRubbernecker Challenges are posted bi-weekly, and run from Tuesday through the second Sunday following. Challenges are open to EVERYONE, and always have a theme. I'm part of the challenge team, so I'll have themed inspiration for you every other Tuesday. The rules are posted on the challenge blog.

Challenge #28 - Make It Shake. Let's see those shaker cards! There are SO many ways to add this kind of fun element to your project - foam tape, die-cut foam shapes (pre-made or made by YOU), shaker window envelopes, shaker cups, etc. It's at least 100 times easier now than it was the first time I ever tried to do this (like 15 years ago....WHAT?) using just my eyeballs, Fiskars trimmer, and hexagon dimensionals from Stampin' Up!. Yes, back in the days of stone knives and bear skins, #amiright?

But, onto my inspiration piece. I LOVE making fun "cocktail" cards. It's one of my favorites because they are always so fresh, happy, and bright. The sentiments also make me smile, and if you can't enjoy what you're doing...well, that's just no good. :)

Tell me this card doesn't just make you HAPPY!

As you can see, the shaker element is the middle of this delicious-looking margarita. I stamped the image once, cut it out with the matching die and my Cuttlebug, then used an Xacto knife to cut out the middle. Then I stamped the image again, die cut it, and colored both images. I used the die again to cut out a piece of acetate, and adhered it to the top panel. Next, I cut foam tape to line the entire bowl of the glass so I could add my glitter, confetti and sequins. Then I sandwiched the glass, sprinkled "sugar" on the rim, adhered the straw to the back, and when the rest of the card was ready, added it in place for a yummy, sparkly card with lots of dimension! Here's another view of the glass, hopefully you can see the shaker element a bit better here:

Come on over and play along with us! We can't wait to see your fabulous shakin' creations. You have until Sunday March 11th to link up HERE on the Rubbernecker Challenge Blog.
